Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a PCU/Oncology unit caring for acute leukemia and hematology patients, requiring 2 years of acute care experience and an OH or compact RN license.

Details

• PCU/Oncology unit caring primarily for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period with no guaranteed consistency
• Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, potentially up to 1:5
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• No chemo certification required for this role
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current, consistent acute care experience within the last 12 months
• At least 1 year of PCU experience required
• Oncology experience preferred but training provided
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration required
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Feeding tube care and management experience required
• Experience with Rapid Response Team protocols required
• Epic charting experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention
• First-time travelers will be considered with screening
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at this health system
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon contract signing, with candidates outside Ohio required to travel for fingerprinting or complete a mailed packet
