Materials Buyer

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Material Buyer to join our dynamic supply chain team in Austin, TX. This is a premier 18-month contract opportunity to embed yourself within a global industry leader, expand your procurement expertise, and drive high‑impact manufacturing operations. We are looking for a proactive professional who thrives in structured, high‑energy environments. The ideal candidate possesses: Experience: 3–5 years of proven experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or material planning. Core Competencies: Direct experience managing supplier relations, handling RFQs, creating purchase orders, monitoring inventory, and navigating vendor negotiations. Industry Knowledge: Previous experience working within a fast‑paced manufacturing or engineering environment. Semiconductor industry experience is a major plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is highly preferred. Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and organizational skills, with a knack for multi‑tasking under tight deadlines. Salary: $25‑30 per hour. Shift: First. Work hours: 8 AM – 5 PM. Education required: High School. Responsibilities Strategic Procurement: Procure materials, components, and services while carefully balancing cost, quality, and strict delivery timelines. Supplier Management: Manage key supplier relationships, issue RFQs, and negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery terms. Order Expediting: Proactively track and expedite purchase orders to ensure timely material availability and prevent production bottlenecks. Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, and internal supply chain teams to align on material needs. Inventory & Production Support: Monitor inventory levels to support shifting production schedules and mitigate supply chain risks. Issue Resolution: Dissect and resolve complex material receiving discrepancies, accounting/invoice mismatches, and supplier performance issues. Compliance: Maintain meticulous purchasing records and ensure strict adherence to internal company compliance and processes. Essential Functions Work in a smoke‑free environment.
