Operating Engineer

Operating Engineer – JLL As an Operating Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex facility systems, including Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, and Central Utility Plant Operations. You will manage maintenance schedules, contractor oversight, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Day‑to‑day duties Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems. Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical proficiency. Clean, inspect, calibrate, and change parts on HVAC systems and associated equipment to maintain optimum performance levels. Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment across all building systems. Monitor quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors, ensuring standards are met. Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory to maintain readiness for all maintenance activities. Comply with departmental policy for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, maintaining a clean and safe workplace. Required qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. 2‑4 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems. Ability to analyze the operation of various commercial or industrial Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems, determine causes of problems or malfunctions, and take corrective action. Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel. Physical ability to bend, sit, kneel, squat, stand, reach, and lay as required to access equipment components for extended periods. Ability to work exposed to heat, sunlight, rain, cold, and during daylight and night‑time hours as needed. Preferred qualifications EPA 608 Universal Certification. Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC.
