School Psychologist CERTIFICATIONS: Master's Degree New Jersey School Psychologist Certification REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Child Study Team JOB GOAL:
The School Psychologist is a member of the professional staff who bears the responsibility of serving as a member of the Child Study Team (Per NJAC 6A:14-3.1(b) "Child study team members shall include a school psychologist, a learning disabilities teacher-consultant and a school social worker ), as well as, as Case Manager, unless otherwise specified by the Superintendent/designee pursuant to the District's Organizational chart, for the purpose of identification, programming, and placement of the District's special education students. RESPONSIBILITIES:
The School Psychologist /Case Manager (per 6A:14-3.2 Case manager) will:
1. Have working knowledge of NJAC 6A:14, Special Education and be knowledgeable of special education procedures and procedural safeguards.
2. Maintain compliance in accordance to timelines set forth by NJAC 6A:14.
3. Adhere to the policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Education, administrative directives, and State and Federal regulations which are appropriate for the position.
4. Serve as liaison among school, parents, referral sources, and outside agencies to facilitate communication.
5. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
6. Identify academic and social emotional needs of referred students.
7. Attend and participate in meetings according to mandates.
8. Maintain physical and/or electronic student files.
9. Coordinate the development, monitoring, and evaluation of the effectiveness of the IEP.
10. Coordinate the Annual Review and Reevaluation process.
11. Be knowledgeable about the student's educational needs and program.
12. Be responsible for transition planning.
13. Conduct Psychological Assessments for classification utilizing psychometric evaluations; observations; interviews; file reviews; and consultation with staff and Child Study Team members.
14. Interpret assessment results to parents, team members, and staff for the purpose of facilitating instructional and social emotional approaches for the student.
15. Provide Counseling according to IEP mandates.
16. Participate in professional meetings and attend workshops designed for professional development.
17. Demonstrate competence as a School Psychologist, Case Manager, and Child Study Team member.
18. Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/designee pursuant to the District's Organizational chart. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work year- Eleven (11) months; Salary and benefits pursuant to LEA contract
