Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in La Jolla, California.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/05/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, days\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Days, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Oct 5, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 3\n Description\n American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a Trauma Level I background for a Day shift assignment requiring active CA licensure and travel experience.Details\n \n ICU setting within a Trauma Level I hospital\n Patient ratio of 1:2\n Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM\n Block scheduling for Friday/Saturday/Sunday may be considered\n Required to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4 week cycle and at least one holiday, including the holiday weekend\n Home base unit assigned, with potential to float to like units or lower acuity units (excluding the ED) across the organization's 5 hospitals depending on census\n Uses Epic EMR system\n Requirements\n \n Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)\n Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; TNCC preferred\n Minimum 2 years of ICU-specific experience, with recent experience within the last year in an ICU setting\n 1.5+ years of continuous specialty experience without breaks (excluding floating)\n Travel experience required, including 1 year total travel experience and 6+ months of continuous recent travel experience\n Epic or combined Epic/Cerner experience required within the last 6 months\n Trauma Level I hospital experience required\n Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred\n Proficiency in critical care skills including ventilator management, arterial line management, CRRT/CVVHD, titration of vasoactive and sedation drips, and management of neurological conditions such as ICP monitoring and post-craniotomy care\n One supervisory-level professional reference required\n Copies of all required certifications and Nursys verification required for consideration, with no pending or expired certifications accepted\n Additional Information\n \n Provide direct patient care in Medical, Neuro, Surgical, or Trauma ICU settings depending on facility needs\n Float requirements apply at or below skillset, with occasional floating to other campuses or locations\n Maximum 7 days of RTO permitted, with no additional requests after consideration\n No first-time travelers considered for this position\n Local candidates within a 100-mile radius are not eligible, except LVNs/MAs; candidates on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months are also considered local and ineligible\n Returning staff or travelers must wait 1 year after last assignment before reapplying\n Extensions capped at 1 year, followed by a required 1-year break before returning\n International travelers must have 1 year of recent or current U.S. work experience\n Interview availability required, including specific days/times and time zone\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-754546.
