Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/08/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Summary The Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN) position in Kansas City, Missouri, involves providing specialized nursing care within a high-acuity setting. The role requires flexibility in shifts, with a focus on patient monitoring, acute care, and support for patients with complex medical needs. Candidates will contribute to patient recovery and safety while working within a structured and collaborative environment. Job Details Location: Kansas City, MO Position / Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN Shift Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours Start Date: 09/08/2026 Required Qualifications: BLS, NIHSS certifications; 2 years of nursing experience, recent Med/Surg or Telemetry background, charting experience with Epic; preferred experience in Trauma Level I or II units and previous travel nursing. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, and managing dysrhythmias; familiarity with rapid response teams, IV therapy, PICC line management, and wound care. On-Call & Float: Regular floating within scope to meet facility needs; float rotation required across departments, units, and facilities. Additional Information: The unit is a 24-bed, Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-recognized facility providing tertiary care. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and more. The patient diagnoses cover pulmonary, wounds, urology, cardiac, neuro, and renal conditions. Certifications & Skills: Valid BLS and NIHSS; proficiency in cardiac telemetry, blood product administration, IV management, airway management, surgical drains, wound care, and rapid response team utilization. Schedule & Compliance: Night shifts, 12 hours; 36 hours minimum per week; orientation and pre-start modules as required; compliance documentation due two Fridays prior to start. Additional Notes: No local candidates within a 75-mile radius; floating may be required across multiple departments; RTO requests must be finalized at submission, with a maximum of 7 days permitted.
