This role performs patient care under the direction of a physician and under the supervision of the lead nurse in an ambulatory care setting. Office Address: 32 W. Gore Street, Orlando, FL 32809 Shift: Monday–Thursday 8 am – 5 pm; Friday 8 am – 2 pm Responsibilities Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues. Participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities. Supports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients and family members. Works collaboratively with administrative and operations staff. Gathers patient data through interview and observation. Assists patients and families with preparation for examination. Assists the physician during examination and procedures. Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice. Provides routine treatments and administers approved medication types. Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and departmental policies. Coordinates patient scheduling, including specialty testing and physician consultation. Handles incoming and outgoing calls professionally using sound clinical judgment. Ensures compliance with Orlando Health policies, procedures, and values. Demonstrates adherence to infection control standards as outlined in Orlando Health policies. Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and applicable federal, state, and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and assess data appropriate to the age‑specific needs of patients on the assigned department or unit. Shows awareness of medical/legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Practices efficient use of supplies. Assists the business office with reception, scheduling, and patient discharge when needed. Qualifications Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or 5 years of verifiable applicable work experience in a patient care setting). Licensure/Certification Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification. Current certification by one of the following agencies: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT). Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Experience 1 year of experience preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
