Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid RN License Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - BLS Required - NIHSS Required - Experience with peritoneal dialysis preferred Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical unit. The unit has 52 private rooms and operates on a standard patient ratio of 1:6-7. Shift hours are 0645-1915 (days) or 1845-0715 (nights). The Charge Nurse takes a full patient assignment and has support from a Clinical Assistant. CNA support typically consists of 4-6 aides per shift. Staff is expected to work every other weekend and participate in the holiday rotation. The hospital has a fully staffed pharmacy and RT team available 24/7. The unit handles various patient diagnoses, including postoperative ortho and neuro cases. Patients may require monitoring for conditions like COPD and pneumonia. The unit also supports hemodialysis patients. COVID testing may result in patient transfers to designated areas based on testing timelines. All charting is conducted using an electronic system. The nursing staff has the capability to assess IV sites but does not initiate IVs on this unit. Floating to other medical surgical or oncology units may occur based on staffing needs.
