Senior Vice President, Credit Underwriting

OSG has partnered with a well-established, growth-oriented community bank, currently seeking a seasoned credit professional to lead its Credit Underwriting Team. This is a senior leadership role reporting to the Chief Credit Officer, with direct influence over credit strategy, portfolio quality, and board-level reporting.

The ideal candidate is a mature banking professional who thrives in a dynamic, evolving environment — someone who can identify critical issues quickly, reconcile competing viewpoints, and exercise sound, independent judgment. You'll build a strong internal network across the bank, mentor a team of underwriters and analysts, and serve as a key credit partner to senior leadership.

What You'll Do

• Apply strong credit judgment and intuition across a high-volume, diverse loan portfolio spanning commercial real estate (income-producing, construction, repositioning, and rehabilitation), C&I and asset-based lending, SBA, correspondent banking, and specialty lending programs.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of senior credit underwriters and analysts, overseeing a significant volume of loan requests annually — originations, renewals, and modifications — spanning a wide range of deal sizes, from smaller relationship loans to large, complex credits.
• Hold delegated individual and joint credit approval authority; present complex credit packages to the Directors' Loan Committee with recommendations on risk rating, structure, and mitigants.
• Partner with the Chief Credit Officer on regulatory coordination, credit policy development, and monitoring of portfolio concentrations, segmentation, and policy exceptions.
• Review and approve annual reviews of the commercial portfolio, ensuring accurate risk identification, credit quality, and performance tracking.
• Identify deteriorating credits and recommend criticized/classified risk ratings.
• Oversee proper identification and handling of Troubled Debt Restructured loans.
• Supervise construction lending administration, including disbursement analysis, budget review, completion estimates, and lien prevention monitoring.
• Supervise and approve collateral releases.
• Oversee the drafting of all commitment letters.
• Attend Directors' Loan Committee, Audit Committee, and Board meetings in an ex-officio capacity as required.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and training to credit staff, and support relationship managers in developing and maintaining core credit relationships.
• Participate in hiring, performance evaluation, and development decisions for the Credit Administration team.
