SUPERVISORY FOREIGN AFFAIRS SPECIALIST

Learn more about this agency Duties Help The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a second level supervisor Division Chief and managerial authorities over supervisory employees assigned to Directorate of Plans, Programs, Requirements and Assessments (HQ AETC/A5/8) within HQ AETC with the responsibility for directing the activities of the Internation Affairs Division (A5I). Duties:
- As Division Chief plans, organizes, and directs the activities of AETC/A5I, ensuring that International Affairs complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
- Represents HQ AETC/A5I with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
- In concert with the AETC Director of International Affairs (A5/8), Air Force Security and Assistance Training (AFSAT), AFMC AF Security Assistant Center (AFSAC), and Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force International Affairs (SAF/IA), initiates, conducts, and participates in meetings and conferences to advise on training policy and the implementation of long-range international training plans and programs.
- Develops, coordinates, and delivers official correspondence, memorandums, messages, letters, emails, communiqués, meetings, statistical data, items of interest, staff summaries, spreadsheets, presentations, bullet background papers and talking papers, and other documents, relative to assigned programs verifying all data for accuracy, content, and completeness, disclosure, and leadership approved per established timetables or supervisor directives.

- This is a Centrally Managed Position in the Operations Career Field. PCS will be paid in accordance with JTR Vol. 2 and applicable Air Force Regulations
- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
- The employee must obtain the appropriate International Affairs certification level per established timelines and maintain certification through continuous training.
- Employee must possess, or obtain, and maintain a current passport.
- It is highly desirable that the employee has senior management/leadership experience.
- This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
- This position is a "Key" position. It cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively.
- "This is a Supervisory Position." A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
- Employee should possess skills and demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with colleagues, counterparts in various USG agencies, high-ranking foreign representatives (military and diplomatic), and representatives of diverse cultures, and be able to utilize tact and diplomacy on all occasions.
- Employee must meet the four-years of International Affairs education/experience requirement IAW OPM guidelines for the Foreign Affairs Series 0130 Occupational requirements (Ref:
- The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and cannot become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve,")
- Employee may be required to perform extended/long-term and/or multiple Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY) tours in foreign nations to accomplish assigned duties. Work occasionally requires global travel away from the normal duty station; travel on military or commercial aircraft is required.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
