Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric services to incarcerated patients, including evaluations, treatment, and monitoring of psychotropic medications in compliance with professional and company policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure uniformity of mental health services and documentation of psychiatric services.
• Provide supervision and oversight to psychiatric nurse (if applicable) and consultation/training services to mental health and medical staff.
• Participate in involuntary medication of high‑risk inmates and document psychiatric services contacts as requested.
• Exercise independent medical judgment in diagnosis and treatment of patients while adhering to approved medication formulary and notifying appropriate staff of clinical or administrative concerns.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Doctorate in psychiatry.
• Training and experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population.
• Physician licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment.
• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in psychiatry.
• CPR certified.
