About MARS Construction

MARS Construction is a national general contractor specializing in hotel renovation, with licensure in more than 30 states. Our leadership comes from hotel operations, and it shows in how we build: we renovate occupied hotels with minimal guest impact, delivering PIP renovations, guestroom renovation programs, and construction management for owners and brands across the country.

We are looking for a General Superintendent who understands that a hotel under renovation is still a hotel — guests are sleeping down the hall, the front desk is checking people in, and the owner is watching RevPAR every day.

The Role

The Traveling General Superintendent is the senior field leader across MARS’s active hotel renovation projects. You will provide hands-on oversight of multiple concurrent jobsites, mentor and hold accountable our project superintendents, and own field execution from mobilization through punch and turnover. You will spend the majority of your time on the road, moving between projects as schedule risk, quality issues, and phase transitions require.

This is a leadership role for a builder who has run occupied-hotel renovations personally and can now raise the standard across a portfolio.

What You’ll Do

Field Leadership

•    Direct field operations across multiple simultaneous hotel renovation projects nationwide

•    Supervise, coach, and evaluate project superintendents and assistant superintendents; set expectations for site organization, documentation, and daily execution

•    Step in as acting superintendent on a project when needed to protect schedule, quality, or client relationships

•    Lead pre-construction site reviews, mobilization planning, and phasing strategies for occupied properties

Occupied-Hotel Execution

•    Develop and enforce guest-impact controls: floor and wing sequencing, noise windows, corridor protection, elevator coordination, dust and odor containment, and daily communication with hotel GMs and operations staff

•    Coordinate room-block turnover with hotel operations so revenue rooms return to inventory on schedule

•    Ensure life-safety systems, egress, and ADA paths remain intact and compliant throughout construction

Schedule, Quality & Cost

•    Own field schedules; build and maintain look-ahead schedules and drive subcontractor performance to milestones

•    Enforce MARS quality standards and brand-specific requirements (Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, etc.), including mock-up rooms, first-in-place inspections, and brand walkthroughs

•    Manage FF&E and OS&E receiving, staging, and installation sequencing in tight footprints

•    Identify field-driven cost and schedule risks early and coordinate with project management on change orders, RFIs, and recovery plans

Safety & Compliance

•    Serve as the senior safety authority in the field; implement and audit site-specific safety plans, toolbox talks, and incident reporting

•    Ensure compliance with OSHA, local jurisdictions, and each hotel’s operating requirements

•    Manage permits, inspections, and AHJ relationships across multiple states

Subcontractor & Client Relations

•    Build and maintain a reliable national subcontractor network; evaluate performance and recommend partners for future work

•    Represent MARS professionally with owners, asset managers, brand representatives, hotel GMs, and design teams

•    Participate in OAC meetings and provide clear, accurate field reporting

What You Bring

Required

•    10+ years of commercial construction field experience with at least 5 years as a superintendent or general superintendent

•    Direct experience running hotel renovations in occupied properties — PIPs, guestroom programs, public space and lobby renovations, or similar hospitality work

•    Proven ability to manage multiple projects and supervise other superintendents

•    Working knowledge of brand standards and approval processes for major hotel flags

•    Strong command of scheduling tools (Microsoft Project, Procore, or equivalent) and construction documentation

•    OSHA 30 certification

•    Willingness and ability to travel up to 100% of the time across the United States

•    Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Preferred

•    Experience with multi-state licensing environments and varying jurisdictional requirements

•    Background in FF&E-heavy renovation scopes and model-room programs

•    Familiarity with hotel operations from the other side of the desk

•    Bilingual English/Spanish
