Plant Operations SpecialistWitham Health Services is seeking a skilled Plant Operations Specialist to join our team. This position performs daily operations of the facility and responds to maintenance needs throughout Witham facilities in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.The Plant Operations Specialist plays an important role in maintaining a safe, reliable, and efficient healthcare environment by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, facility improvements, security-related needs, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Plant Operations or designee.This position offers an opportunity for an experienced trades professional to utilize their skills in a healthcare setting while supporting the systems and infrastructure that allow Witham Health Services to provide exceptional care to our patients, families, and community.The Plant Operations Specialist is responsible for performing facility maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance, and operational support throughout Witham Health Services facilities. This role requires knowledge and experience across multiple trade areas including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, low voltage systems, and general building maintenance.The specialist will work independently and collaboratively with the Plant Operations team, vendors, contractors, and other departments to ensure facility systems remain safe, functional, and compliant with applicable regulatory requirements.Minimum Requirements:High school graduate or GED preferredVocational training and/or apprenticeship preferred, or equivalent work experience in the field acceptedIn-house or field experience within a healthcare setting preferred5 or more years of experience working in a commercial or industrial trade field requiredValid Indiana driver's license required with driving history meeting WHS insurance requirementsAbility to maintain telephone communication to support callback requirements as neededAvailable to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as schedule requiresRequired Competencies:Demonstrates knowledge and competency in low voltage electrical control systemsWorks safely and efficiently with minimal supervisionMaintains confidentiality regarding critical and private systemsDemonstrates behavior consistent with Witham Health Services teamwork requirementsWorks within applicable guidelines including:National Electric CodeLife Safety CodeNational Fire Protection Agency (NFPA)Indiana State Board of HealthThe Joint Commission (TJC)Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)OSHA RegulationsAny other Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)Demonstrates ability to perform all duties as assignedMaintains applicable controls and low voltage certificationsEssential Functions:Responsible for installation, safety testing, preventative maintenance, diagnostic troubleshooting, cost-effective maintenance, and repair of low voltage control systems used throughout WHS facilitiesResponsible for overseeing, servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, operating, maintaining, and documenting equipment and systems including:Fire alarm systemsAccess control systemsPneumatic tube systemsInfant abduction systemsNurse call systemsOther assigned systems and equipmentResponds to codes and facility system needs as assigned by the Director of Plant Operations or designeeCommunicates professionally with equipment vendors, parts suppliers, and contractors to obtain competitive service and repair solutionsTroubleshoots and repairs controls for cooking appliances, microwave ovens, kitchen equipment, and non-clinical electrical devicesWorks collaboratively with other department trades specialists to support workload requirementsProvides expertise and support to other departments as neededMaintains clean and organized work areas including plant spaces, shops, electrical rooms, above ceiling areas, cable penetrations, and fire penetrationsMaintains professional appearance and attitudeSupports training of other department trades staff in systems-related areasAssists with installation, repair, and planning of upgrades involving:Nurse call systemsAccess control systemsEnergy management systemsSecurity camerasLow voltage control systemsIdentifies opportunities for cost savings while maintaining system reliability and securityWhy Witham?Witham Health Services has served central Indiana for more than 100 years, providing exceptional care through the dedication of our clinical and support teams.
