Description
The Warehouse Shipping Clerk is responsible for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are properly processed, documented, and shipped in a timely and efficient manner. This role includes managing the preparation of orders for shipment, verifying the accuracy of shipping information, and coordinating with various departments and shipping carriers to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of products.
This role is highly computer-focused and requires a significant amount of time spent managing tasks digitally. You'll be handling a high volume of emails, working extensively in customer portals for routing and order processing, and using various software tools to ensure smooth operations. Strong computer proficiency and attention to detail are essential for success in this position.
Primary Responsibilities: • Prepare and process outgoing shipments, including packing, labeling, and addressing parcels. Verify and maintain accurate shipping records by comparing product details, shipment quantities, and customer orders. • Generate shipping documents such as bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels. Utilize shipping software and systems to track and record shipments . • Assist in receiving, inspecting, and organizing incoming shipments when necessary. Collaborate with warehouse staff to maintain an organized and efficient shipping area. • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries . • Address and resolve any shipping-related issues, including discrepancies, delays, or damaged goods. • P lan and communicate with various levels of the company, including the corporate office frequently, while being flexible and professional . • Operate mobile equipment for picking or putting away finished goods and materials (training is provided) • Other duties as requested, including general housekeeping of warehouse.
Required Skills: • S trong attention to detail and accuracy in handling shipping documentation. • Strong commitment to safety, with knowledge of safety standards related to mobile equipment operation. • Ability to become certified in use of mobile equipment: forklift, order picker, clamp truck to be used in various environmental conditions. • Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, reporting to supervisors, and following instructions. • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and shipping software such as SAP . • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Ph ysical Demands: • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods over an 8 or 10-hour shift, with 15-minute breaks. • Periods of intense physical activity followed by periods of stationary , seated office work . • Must be comfortable using handheld, non-powered tools like tape guns or scanners. • Must be comfortable using dock plates, carts and ladders up to 18 feet tall. • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50lbs.
Education and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent. • At least 1 year experience operating mobile equipment, such as forklifts, loaders, or cranes, in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred. • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred but not required. • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus but not required
