Overview Job Description We Deliver the Goods: Pay: $80,000-$100,000 annually. Schedule/Hours: 4-5 day work week, availability Mon-Sat. Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 – Terms Apply. This is an entry level driver training role focused on learning to drive tractor trailer or straight truck and gaining experience on local, intrastate and interstate routes to deliver and unload food and related products to customers. All routes are completed safely in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations. The driver trainee communicates professionally with customers, vendors and co-workers and performs duties aligned with customer service practices. Position Purpose This is an entry level driver training role. The driver trainee learns to drive and gains experience in intrastate/interstate driving on local, OTR, shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver and unload food and related products to customers. All tasks are performed in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations. The driver trainee interacts professionally with customers, vendors and co-workers to ensure services are delivered according to customer service practices. Works as a team member within the department and organization and performs duties assigned to support the company. Responsibilities Attend and successfully complete the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program as required. Complete and maintain all training documentation per requirements. Rides with and assists the driver trainer in deliveries; follow all instructions and directions provided by the driver trainer. Perform required safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspections of tractor/truck and trailer per DOT regulations; report safety issues and required repairs. Follow DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines; immediately report safety hazards. Inspect trailer for proper loading and secure freight; perform item counts and review customer invoices; complete required paperwork accurately. Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed. Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route schedule; unload, transport to designated storage areas, and perform damage control checks as needed. Verify delivery with the customer and obtain signatures; collect money where required; load customer returns and secure trailer doors. Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are secured at all times; unload damaged goods and returns and complete necessary paperwork. Unload all equipment, remove trash from trailers, and complete daily records of hours of service per DOT/state/company requirements. Perform general housekeeping and keep trailers clear and clean; secure equipment at the end of shift and complete necessary paperwork. Perform other related duties as assigned.
