A Brief Overview Responsible for ophthalmic photography, diagnostic services, and electrophysiology for the Division of Ophthalmology. The primary location for this position is the Buerger Building on CHOP’s Main Campus. Travel to King of Prussia SSC will be required 1-3 times per week. Flexibility required based on clinic needs, with occasional later end time 1-2 days per week. What you will do Perform ophthalmic testing, imaging, and electrophysiology for the Division of Ophthalmology outpatient clinics, including but not limited to fundus photography, visual fields, anterior segment fluorescein angiography, OCT, ERG/VEP, and ultrasonography. Participate in weekly Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) rounds in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for 6-8 hours/week Acquire retinal images of premature infants who are being evaluated for ROP Collect and record pertinent clinical data Be responsible for fundus photography, visual fields, OCTs, and ERGs performed on patients in the sedation unit and/or operating rooms Communicate with physicians in regards to test results and protocols Maintain and contribute to efficient patient flow in the practice Maintain all department photographic, diagnostic, and related equipment. Make minor repairs and modifications to such equipment, adapting it to various ophthalmic procedures Assist in maintaining inventory of all necessary supplies, equipment and services with necessary follow-up. Ensure equipment is cleaned and disinfected in accordance with policy and standards Ensure acquired images are appropriately stored in patients’ electronic health records Develop and maintain a regular image backup protocol. Assist with image storage related concerns, have sufficient understanding to manage duplicates, contribute to the database, and report any concerns with image capture Perform all tasks in a safe manner in compliance with patient safety policies and applicable regulations Work collegially as part of a larger clinical care team Participate in divisional research requiring imaging studies. Work with Director of Research as clinic research liaison Attend conferences, workshops and lectures. Review current literature and update on the latest developments techniques for testing Be knowledgeable and proficient in diagnostic testing, including but not limited to: Visual Fields, Ultrasound, OCT, A and B-scan, ERG/VEP Train others in the division’s diagnostic imaging protocols as well as the proper use and maintenance of diagnostic equipment Education Qualifications High School Diploma / GED - Required Experience Qualifications At least five (5) years experience in pediatric ophthalmic imaging/photography - Required At least ten (10) years experience in pediatric ophthalmic imaging - Preferred Skills and Abilities Knowledge of eye terminology, pathology, anatomy and physiology of the eye Proficient in all areas of ophthalmic photography (including fundus, Retcam, slit lamp, external, video, and fluorescein angiography) Advanced skills in ophthalmic diagnostic testing including OCT, Retcam, ultrasound and ERG required Ability to analyze and interpret diagnostic testing information Must be able to work and learn independently, multitask, and demonstrate strong problem solving abilities Outstanding communication and leadership skills to support and maintain professional relationships within and outside the division Licenses and Certifications Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) - Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) - upon hire - Required or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) - Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) - upon hire - Required or Certified Ophthalmic Technologist (COMT) - Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) - upon hire - Required or Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT-C) - Ophthalmic Photographers’ Society (OPS) - upon hire - Required or Certified Retinal Angiographer (CRA) - Ophthalmic Photographers’ Society (OPS) - upon hire - Required Ophthalmic Photographers Society (OPS) Certification - Ophthalmic Photographers’ Society (OPS) - upon hire - Preferred Certified Diagnostic Ophthalmic Sonographers (CDOS) - Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) - upon hire - Preferred To carry out its mission, CHOP is committed to supporting the health of our patients, families, workforce, and global community. SALARY RANGE:

$67,500.00 - $86,060.00 Annually Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you’re working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
