The Medical Assistant position prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, taking vital signs, and recording this and other information in the medical record. This position is responsible for monitoring supplies and assuring exam rooms are prepared for patients. This position also performs some non-clinical administrative tasks in the front of the office of the practice.Essential Job FunctionsCheck in and room patients, including obtaining demographic and insurance information, assessing vitals, and administering injectionsEducate patients and schedule special proceduresAsk physicians and registered nurses to put in medication orders for the proceduresAssist physicians with proceduresPrepare supplies and exam rooms for patientsEscort patients to exam rooms and give preliminary instructions, and perform preliminary physical tests & update patient history, medications, and the purpose of the visit in the medical recordRetrieve imaging for physician reviewPhlebotomySchedule all lab orders and imaging appointmentsRequests, scan, and respond to requests for medical recordsEnter and maintain patient records in the EMRRequirements (Experience/Education/Licensing)Required1-2 years clinical and administrative experience in a medical officeBLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart AssociationNat'l Medical Assistant (MA) Certification - CMA (Cert. Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant)/AAMA Cert. (American Association of Medical Assistants). NCCT, AAMA, or AMT are acceptable certification sites preferredGood venipuncture skillsHigh School Diploma or equivalentKnowledge of medical terminologyDetail orientation and good organizational & time management skillsStrong interpersonal skills and communication skills (oral & written)Good computer skills: Microsoft Office, OutlookPreferredAssociate or bachelor's Degree from an accredited universityHours: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM
