seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator to join our Plant 2 team on 2nd shift. This role sets
up and operates CNC lathes to produce precision-machined turbine and power generation components,
working from blueprints and programmed instructions to hold tight tolerances on high-value parts. Candidates
with turn/mill machining experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up and operate CNC lathes to machine precision parts for steam and gas turbine applications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering specifications to determine machining sequence
and setup.
• Program, edit, and troubleshoot G-code; utilize Mastercam or DMG conversational programming as needed.
• Select proper tooling, fixtures, and work-holding methods for each job.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
• Perform turn/mill operations on multi-axis equipment where applicable.
• Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, adjusting speeds, feeds, and offsets as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with plant safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with shift leads and quality personnel regarding job status and any part discrepancies.
Qualifications
• 5+ years of CNC lathe set-up and operation experience.
• G-code programming experience required.
• Mastercam or DMG conversational programming experience desired.
• Turn/mill machining experience a plus.
• Strong blueprint reading and precision measurement skills.
• Ability to work independently on 2nd shift with minimal supervision.
