Rhino Medical is leading the charge in seeking Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Emergency Medicine Physicians for a locum tenens opportunity in Frederick, Maryland .

This assignment offers consistent monthly coverage within an established emergency medicine program, with day, swing, and night shifts available and an anticipated need of 10–15 shifts per month .

Physicians must hold an active Maryland medical license and reside within driving distance of Frederick. This is a drive-in assignment only; flights are not available .

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, stabilize, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries.
• Perform comprehensive emergency medical assessments and determine appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.
• Manage patients with a broad range of medical, surgical, and traumatic emergencies.
• Provide emergency resuscitation and stabilization for critically ill or injured patients.
• Assess and manage respiratory distress, cardiovascular emergencies, neurologic conditions, infectious presentations, and acute abdominal complaints.
• Perform emergency procedures consistent with Emergency Medicine training and granted clinical privileges.
• Order and interpret laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, and other appropriate emergency evaluations.
• Provide airway management and advanced resuscitative care when clinically indicated.
• Evaluate pediatric patients presenting with emergency medical conditions, consistent with departmental scope and privileges.
• Coordinate consultations, admissions, transfers, and patient dispositions with appropriate clinical teams.
• Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers, nursing personnel, and consulting specialists.
• Support safe patient throughput and timely clinical decision-making.
• Maintain accurate emergency department documentation using Meditech.
• Participate in day, swing, or overnight coverage according to the agreed assignment schedule.

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
• Completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residency.
• American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) certification or qualifying board eligibility.
• Active Maryland medical license required.
• Current emergency resuscitation certifications as required for clinical privileges.
• Clinical proficiency in emergency patient evaluation, stabilization, and management.
• Ability to independently manage acute and potentially life-threatening emergency presentations.
• Experience with adult emergency medicine and appropriate pediatric emergency presentations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Emergency Medicine physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, nurses, and hospital specialists.
• Strong clinical judgment, procedural competence, and emergency department communication skills.
• Must reside within driving distance of Frederick, Maryland.
• Must be able to travel to the assignment by ground transportation; flights are not available.
