The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care using the nursing process, demonstrating clinical competence relevant to psychiatry and adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Follow established hospital policy regarding patient safety measures such as infection prevention, safe patient handling and movement, critical lab notification, etc., to provide patient care in a safe environment and maintain central lines and prevent surgical site infections per policy. Provide quality nursing care including administration of medications, nursing interventions, and patient and family teaching within hospital guidelines. Perform initial and ongoing assessments in all aspects of patient care to monitor status, improve quality, enhance safety, and provide accurate information to the healthcare team. Document all patient care activities and required quality monitoring items to comply with quality measures and support clinical decision-making. Communicate patient information to physicians and team members to improve outcomes; delegate as appropriate while fostering teamwork and accountability. Communicate with patients and families timely to enhance experience and provide education to support health outcomes. Demonstrate critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills. Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Work Experience One year experience preferred. Certification / License Current RN license in the State of Missouri or Compact Licensure. Graduate nurses (GNs) must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). Mental/Physical Requirements Concentration required; lifting up to 35 lbs., turning activities, standing, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, reaching, and nearly constant walking required. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious disease and communicable disease via blood and other bodily fluids; may encounter hostile persons at times.
