Job Title: Entry-Level Construction Laborer Job Description
The Entry-Level Construction Laborer supports commercial construction projects from start to finish by performing a wide range of hands-on tasks on job sites. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, wants to learn construction trades, and takes pride in contributing to high-quality building work. No prior construction experience is required, and comprehensive training and mentorship are provided for candidates with a strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude.
Responsibilities- Assist skilled tradespeople with a variety of construction tasks on commercial projects.
- Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment between the shop and job sites.
- Perform regular site cleanup and help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision and in accordance with safety procedures.
- Support demolition, framing, and general carpentry activities as directed.
- Prepare, stage, and organize materials for installation to keep projects moving smoothly.
- Follow project plans, directions from supervisors, and all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Help install, repair, and maintain building components such as concrete, framing, drywall, and finishes.
- Assist with concrete work, rough and finish carpentry, drywall installation, painting, and installation of windows, doors, and hardware.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently while maintaining high quality standards and attention to detail.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with supervisors and team members to coordinate daily work.
- Demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality to support project schedules and crew productivity.
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn new construction skills and trades.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality to meet early morning start times and project deadlines.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to take on physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Comfort working outdoors in all types of weather conditions on commercial job sites.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a crew.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with supervisors and coworkers.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of hand and power tools.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred for travel to the shop and job sites.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education preferred.
- Previous experience with hand tools and power tools is a plus but not required.
- Exposure to landscaping, construction, or related labor work is beneficial.
- Familiarity with construction trades such as concrete work, carpentry, painting, drywall, and trim carpentry is an advantage.
- Interest in learning self-perform work including concrete, rough and finish carpentry, drywall, painting, and installation of windows, doors, and hardware.
You will join a small, family-owned general contractor that values training, mentorship, and long-term growth in the construction trades. The company offers a variety of work on commercial projects, providing the opportunity to learn multiple skills such as concrete, carpentry, drywall, and painting. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in commercial construction, with work performed both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions. You will typically start your day at the shop at 5:00 a.m., then travel with the crew to job sites with the goal of being on projects by approximately 6:30–7:00 a.m. Travel time from the shop to the project is not paid. The standard end time is around 3:30 p.m., though current project demands may extend the workday to about 5:00 p.m., and there may be opportunities for overtime and weekend work. Crews usually consist of 2–4 people, creating a close-knit team environment. The dress code requires work boots and pants suitable for construction activities. Appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, is provided and expected to be worn as required to maintain a safe job site.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
