We're looking for an energetic, detail-oriented leader to help keep our learning environment safe, clean, and welcoming at the Oakland Schools Technical Campus – SW!

As Lead Custodian, you will play a vital role in ensuring our facility remains a spotless, secure, and inspiring space for students and staff alike. Your hands-on work will set the standard for our campus. From daily floor cleaning to whiteboard care, your efforts will directly shape the quality of our learning spaces. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our Technical Campus while providing essential operational leadership during the afternoon and evening shifts. In this dynamic supervisory position, you will oversee and delegate tasks to evening custodial staff, serve as a key liaison to the Facilities Manager, and ensure strict building security—including managing end-of-shift lockups. Your day-to-day responsibilities combine team direction with hands-on facility care, ranging from routine floor maintenance, dusting, upholstery care, and window washing to daily scrubbing, disinfecting, and restocking of restrooms. Beyond foundational cleaning, you will take an active role in community life by facilitating event set-ups, caterings, clean-ups, and furniture relocations, while also supporting facilities with seasonal snow removal and minor painting tasks. High school diploma or equivalent.

One or more years of relevant experience.

Reliable transportation and ability to travel between school buildings as needed.

Ability to continuously stand/walk/bend/reach/stoop/kneel/crouch/lift, climb ladders, lift and transport heavy items up to 30 pounds, and properly operate tools/equipment necessary to perform required repairs.

Work involves regular exposure to cleaning solutions and disinfectants as well as exposure to dust, dirt, tight spaces, offensive odors, dampness, hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment, adverse weather conditions, etc. when performing maintenance and repair work.

$21.40 - $23.18 hourly based on relevant prior work experience, with the potential to earn up to $23.94 after employment with Oakland Schools.
