Fleet Services by Cox Automotive – Mobile Diesel Technician Level II Fleet Services, a Cox Automotive company headquartered in Indianapolis, is a leading provider of on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Make minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Diagnose and repair various truck equipment using diagnostic tools, handheld computers, and pressure gauges. Conduct road tests to confirm proper vehicle operation. Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and use sound judgment to determine solutions. Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliations. Maintain and operate the service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections. Communicate effectively with clients and customers to assess needs and resolve issues. Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time effectively. Use hand, precision, diesel, welding, lift, and jack tools. Document work on Repair Orders (RO) using company iOS devices and the proprietary TRAIT application. Complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly. Work independently and manage daily schedules. Maintain a high level of productivity and meet standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed. Communicate with management for repair estimates, purchase order numbers, and RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Maintain the service truck, conduct daily safety checks, and perform pre/post‑trip inspections. Requirements High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of related experience (or equivalent combinations such as a higher degree with fewer years). Set of hand tools necessary for the duties. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Successful completion of DOT federal background screening and DOT physical/medical card with at least 4 months validity. Minimum age 21, valid state driver’s license, and Class C license. Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
