The ideal candidate prioritizes student safety, follows all traffic and school transportation regulations, and represents the school in a professional and courteous manner.Key ResponsibilitiesSafely operate a school bus to transport students on field trips and special eventsPerform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issuesEnsure student safety during loading, unloading, and transportFollow all local, state, and federal transportation laws and school district policiesMaintain order and appropriate behavior on the busCommunicate clearly with school staff regarding schedules, routes, and any issuesComplete required logs, trip reports, and documentation accuratelyRespond calmly and appropriately to emergencies or unexpected situationsRequirementsValid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with proper endorsements (e.g., Passenger and School Bus)Clean driving recordAbility to pass background checks, drug screenings, and required physical examinationsPrevious school bus or commercial driving experience preferredKnowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practicesAbility to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekendsSkills & AttributesStrong commitment to safety and responsibilityExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsPatience and professionalism when working with studentsDependable, punctual, and well-organizedAbility to remain calm under pressurePhysical RequirementsAbility to sit for extended periodsAbility to assist students when needed during boarding and exitingMust meet all physical requirements required by transportation regulations
