Library Program Manager II

Overview Applications are being accepted for the position of Library Program Manager II with the South San Francisco Public Library. The position is in the Youth Services Division, overseeing youth programs, collections, and makerspace activities. The Library Program Manager II plans, organizes, manages, supervises and coordinates library-wide activities covering core library services in technical, public, and literacy service areas. Incumbents work under the general direction of the Library Director or Assistant Library Director and exercise direct supervision over supervisory, professional, technical, paraprofessional and clerical staff, and volunteers. The role may serve as the Library Director in the department head’s absence, act as the project manager for specialized projects, and perform related work as required. The standard schedule is 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., plus one evening per week (11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.) and one Saturday per month (9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.). Responsibilities Oversee youth programs, collections, and makerspace activities. Plan, organize, manage, and coordinate library-wide activities. Supervise staff and volunteers, including supervisory, professional, and technical personnel. Act as Library Director in the department head’s absence when required. Serve as project manager for specialized projects. Qualifications Three years of progressively responsible professional library experience, with two years in a supervisory capacity. Bachelor’s degree in library science, public administration, or related field. Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution (required).
