RN - PCU

Registered Nurse (RN)The position is located in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Step-down unit that serves as a transition from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The unit consists of 14 beds across 7 rooms, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3, allowing for close monitoring of patients who do not require the full level of ICU care.ResponsibilitiesProvide care for step-down patients transitioning from the ICU.Manage patients with complex diagnoses such as traumatic brain injuries (TBI), trauma, major surgery, carotid endarterectomy (CEA), and sepsis.Monitor and handle high-risk medications, including titration of drips.Demonstrate proficiency with arterial and Central Venous Pressure (CVP) lines.Care for patients on tracheostomy and stable mechanical ventilation.QualificationsRequired certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.2-3 years of nursing experience in a PCU or ICU stepdown unit.Ability to titrate infusion drips such as Precedex, dopamine, dobutamine, and levophed.Self-motivated and team-oriented with a commitment to patient experience and satisfaction, including familiarity with HCAHPS and core measures.Open to first-time travelers.Shifts and Scheduling12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 AM or 6:45 PM.Three shifts per week, with schedules prepared 2-3 weeks in advance initially, then approximately 9 weeks in advance.Self-scheduling is primarily allowed.Weekend requirement includes 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule (days: Saturday/Sunday; nights: Friday/Saturday).Holiday requirements include participation in the permanent staff rotation.Additional InformationNo call or standby requirement; first to float to Tele or MedSurg units as necessary.The unit is known for its close-knit team that values effective teamwork.Orientation will include 1 shift on the unit.Charting system used: Cerner.LocationCity: [City Name], State: [State Name]Client Details Address 2175 Rosaline Ave, Redding, CA City Redding State CA Zip Code 96001
