Network Engineer

T-Rex is looking for a fully cleared Network Engineer to work on a program in the Columbia, Maryland area in support of the Intelligence Community. Clearance Requirements Candidate must have a TS/SCI polygraph clearance. Responsibilities Perform maintenance and sustainment of existing networks and identify/correct issues. Resolve routine network problems; operate network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulators. Monitor data or voice system networks for various messages, alarms, or issues; activate scripts as alarms occur or issues surface; confirm accuracy of messages and determine severity of problems. Troubleshoot problems using scripts and standard procedures; research issues to determine if they can be resolved with predefined procedures; escalations as appropriate. Resolve basic issues, document results, and communicate occurrence of alarms or issues along with actions taken. Execute scheduled maintenance routines; identify issues or problems and resolve as appropriate; escalations when necessary. Activate/deactivate network lines according to established schedules. Perform first- and second-level problem determination (first level is help desk). Interface with users and/or network vendors. Follow detailed work instructions. Have two (2) years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. Have an Associate's degree in engineering technology from an accredited college; two (2) years of additional network engineering experience may substitute for that degree. Experience installing and configuring any level of network devices such as firewalls, switches, routers, cabling, Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper. Experience supporting WAN technologies such as SONET (OC3, OC48, OC192), DS3, T1, etc., and with Taclanes/KG-175, MPLS, BGP, VPNs, etc. Have an IAT Level II baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01-M. Desired Certifications CompTIA Network+, CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent. Salary Annual base salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 (general guideline).
