Job Title

Registered Nurse – Emergency Observation Unit (Level 3)

Location

New York, NY

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Rotating Shifts including Days, Evenings, Nights, On Call, Call Back, Charge, Holidays, and Weekends as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to adult patients in a fast-paced observation unit that manages 20–27 patient turnovers per day
• Monitor and assess patients to determine appropriateness for hospital admission or safe discharge
• Care for a diverse adult population including emergency observation and admitted boarding patients ranging from short stay to full admissions
• Operate within a unit that maintains 24/7 provider coverage with an average patient length of stay of 27 hours
• Perform charge nurse duties, respond to on-call and call-back assignments, and support unit operations during holidays and weekends as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license – NY license required
• Minimum of two years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience
• Telemetry experience required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – American Heart Association only
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – American Heart Association only

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Prior experience in an observation, emergency, or similarly high-acuity unit environment
