Job Title: Surgical Services Sterile Processing Tech Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 2-3 Years Required License: No pending state license accepted Certifications: BLS Required Must-Have: - Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for up to 5 hours Description: The Surgical Services Sterile Processing Tech will work in an acute hospital setting. Key responsibilities include decontamination and disinfection using chemical agents. Tasks include cleaning equipment such as crash carts, IV pumps, and PCA pumps. High-level disinfection techniques are required. Manual cleaning and proper labeling are important. Experience with ultrasonic cleaners, washers, and sterilizers is necessary. The position involves preparation and handling of instruments, utilizing aseptic techniques. Organizing trays and preparing case carts is essential. Proper selection of wrapping materials and sterilization wrapping procedures must be followed. Processing of endoscopes and scope/probe reprocessing is required. The tech will be responsible for sets/trays assembly. Knowledge of specialty equipment processing for various medical fields is required. Understanding sterilization protocols including biological and chemical indicators is a must. The tech will perform testing/monitoring for steam sterilization and other methods. Flexible endoscope reprocessing experience is preferred, including knowledge of various scopes. Weekend and holiday assignments may be necessary as dictated by department needs. Regular floating between departments and units may be required. The position requires completion of designated modules for compliance.
