Transportation Administrator - NDOT

Position Overview The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) is seeking a Transportation Administrator-Choose How You Move Project Manager. Choose How You Move (CHYM), approved by 66% of voters in 2024, is Mayor O’Connell’s transportation improvement program and the largest capital program in geographic scope and scale to be undertaken in Nashville’s history. Implementation of the $3.1 billion in CHYM capital projects requires extensive collaboration among multiple Metro departments, project managers, and vendors; coordination of $111 million worth of annual operating expenditures; and robust engagement with neighbors. CHYM will transform how people move around the city for decades to follow. CHYM includes installation of smart signals at nearly 600 intersections, 24/7/365 transit service, 54 miles of high‑capacity transit, 86 miles of sidewalks, and safety improvements on 78 miles of the Vision Zero High‑Injury Network. Responsibilities Serves as the leading force in driving delivery and innovation, encouraging project teams to develop and implement innovative processes and design elements that will improve the efficiency of NDOT’s systems and programs. Implements the project vision as aligned with the CHYM Program Management team in the Mayor’s Office. Develops, monitors, and maintains project schedules and budgets to ensure the development process and deliverables meet or exceed standards. Manages change by maintaining complete and accurate project documentation to provide efficiency in resolving questions as projects progress. Leads internal and external project team members proactively to achieve project milestones using project management tools and software that determine project priorities and critical paths. Leads multidisciplinary teams proactively to ensure project delivery expectations are met. Ensures project data is both current and accurate, allowing for well‑informed decision making by NDOT staff. Ensures performance metrics are met. Addresses all public right of way issues including ADA compliance, parking regulations and adherence to Metro design construction guidelines on projects. Performs related duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent and twelve (12) years of experience in construction engineering or construction inspections and five (5) years of increasingly responsible supervisory/lead experience and/or project management experience. OR Associate’s Degree in a related field with eight (8) years of experience in construction engineering or construction inspections and three (3) years of increasingly responsible supervisory/lead experience and/or project management experience.
