This role combines direct patient psychiatric care with clinical collaboration and mentorship for a team of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs), 103 NP classification nurses governed by AB890.The Psychiatrist will work closely under the guidance of the Medical Director to support high-quality psychiatric care, clinical best practices, provider development, and interdisciplinary collaboration across the organization. This position offers the opportunity to help shape psychiatric programming within a supportive and mission-driven outpatient mental health practice.This role also includes the potential for profit-sharing opportunities based on organizational and provider performance.ResponsibilitiesDirect Patient CareConduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and medication management services for outpatient clientsDevelop and implement individualized treatment plansMonitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and treatment outcomesCollaborate with therapistsMaintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with organizational, legal, and ethical standardsProvide crisis intervention and risk assessments as clinically indicatedPMHNP Collaboration & Clinical SupportProvide clinical consultation, mentorship, and support to a team of PMHNP (103 NPs)Assist with complex diagnostic clarification and medication management casesSupport evidence-based prescribing practices and clinical quality initiativesParticipate in case consultation meetings and peer collaboration discussionsHelp promote consistency in clinical standards, workflows, and psychiatric best practicesServe as a clinical resource for psychiatric providers regarding treatment planning and patient care concernsLeadership & Organizational CollaborationWork collaboratively under the direction of the Medical DirectorParticipate in psychiatric department meetings, policy development, and quality improvement initiativesSupport organizational growth, provider retention, and clinical excellence initiativesAssist in the development of psychiatric protocols, training materials, and clinical guidance when appropriateQualifications:RequiredMD or DO degree from an accredited medical schoolBoard Certified and or Board Eligible in PsychiatryActive and unrestricted California medical licenseDEA license and ability to prescribe controlled substancesExperience providing outpatient psychiatric medication managementStrong interpersonal, leadership, and collaborative communication skillsAbility to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environmentPreferredExperience collaborating with or supervising Advanced Practice Providers (PMHNPs)Experience in community mental health or outpatient behavioral health settingsFamiliarity with telehealth psychiatric careInterest in leadership, program development, and provider mentorshipSchedule & Work EnvironmentThis is a part-time role with availability to work hours that work for youFlexible scheduling options availableHybrid and telehealth opportunities may be availableAdministrative support providedCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive compensation package ($180-$200/hr for W2)Flexible work environmentAdministrative and clinical supportProfessional collaboration within a multidisciplinary behavioral health teamOpportunity for leadership growth and organizational impactNote: This job description serves as a general guide and may be subject to change based on Meridian's needs and industry developments.
