Direct Patient Care Hospice Volunteer
AccentCare Hospice and Palliative Care- San Bernardino
Location: Patient Homes, Assisted Living, or Skilled Nursing Facilities
Time Commitment: Flexible | Volunteer-Driven
Role Overview:
Direct Patient Care Volunteers offer presence, comfort, and emotional support to patients and families during the hospice journey. Volunteers are an essential extension of the care team, providing companionship and kindness.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Sit with patients and offer companionship
- Engage in conversation, reading, music, or quiet presence
- Provide caregiver respite (non-medical)
- Support emotional well-being of patients and families
This Role Is Well-Suited For Someone Who:

Flexibility & Autonomy:
- Volunteers choose when and how often they serve
- Visits arranged around volunteer availability
- Independent role with hospice team support
Annual Volunteer Requirements:
- Background check
- TB screening
- Required immunizations
- Annual orientation & training
- HIPAA & safety compliance
