Job Title: Part-Time Swim Instructor
Department: Wellness Center
Employment Type: Part-Time
Salary: $25.00 / Hourly
Schedule: Contractual PT Saturdays - 2/3 hours
Reports To: Wellness Center Director / Aquatics Coordinator
- Provide adaptive swim lessons for individuals with disabilities of all ages and skill levels
- Teach water safety, stroke development, aquatic exercise, and swimming fundamentals
- Modify instruction techniques to meet individual participant needs and abilities
- Encourage participant confidence, independence, and skill progression
- Maintain accurate attendance and participant progress documentation
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants in and around the pool area
- Enforce pool rules, emergency procedures, and aquatic safety standards
- Respond appropriately and efficiently to emergencies or behavioral situations
- Maintain awareness of participant medical, behavioral, and support needs
- Assist with aquatic wellness programs, recreational swim activities, and special events
- Help prepare and maintain pool equipment and instructional materials
- Communicate professionally with families, caregivers, and team members
- Support a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Previous swim instruction or aquatic experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities
- Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
- Current CPR/AED Certification
- Current First Aid Certification
- Lifeguard Certification a MUST
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move in and around the pool environment
- Ability to enter and exit the pool safely and assist participants as needed
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work in a warm, humid aquatic environment
- Experience working in adaptive aquatics or therapeutic recreation
- Knowledge of water safety instruction techniques
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Positive attitude with a team-oriented mindset
