Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center | US:ME:Bangor or Remote | Administrative Support | Full Time Description Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center Position is located: Northern Light Cardiology Work Type: Full Time Work Schedule: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Summary : The Patient Service Representative III is a supporting position responsible for a variety of activities related to patient intake and care. It involves responsibilities of the PSR II with a higher level of competency and experience. The PSR III may be the first point of contact for patients entering the practice and may support PSR I and II as required. Activities may include greeting and checking in patients, verifying and updating insurance information, scheduling appointments, answering phones, updating demographic information, processing referrals, payment collection and posting, chart preparation, and other duties as assigned with minimal supervision. The PSR III coordinates components of patient appointments (tests, surgeries, procedures) and may work closely with Central Scheduling. The role requires independence, judgment, and professionalism, and may include mentoring new staff. Responsibilities Communicates effectively with patients and staff, providing courteous and professional service Answers calls promptly and resolves issues through effective communication Verifies and updates demographic and insurance information per protocol Schedules tests, procedures, referrals, and appointments; documents information in the patient’s chart Processes insurance referrals and prior authorizations; collects payments and posts accurately Maintains patient privacy and identifies patients using two identifiers Supports time and attendance tracking, quality metrics, and schedule management Provides training and mentorship to staff when appropriate and participates in staff meetings Acts as a resource to coworkers and maintains positive working relationships Coordinates with practice management on projects and process improvements Assists with training new staff and coverage of other roles when needed Ensures use of appropriate practice software and registration tool protocols Responds to patient inquiries and escalates issues using the proper chain of command Performs other duties as assigned by practice leadership Qualifications Education : Required High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Working Conditions Potential exposure to abusive and/or aggressive people Work with computers, typing, reading or writing Lifting, moving and loading 20 to 30 pounds Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is a 411-bed regional tertiary care hospital and Level II Trauma Center located in Bangor, Maine.
