Senior Accountant / Client Accounting Advisory Manager Location: Madison, WI – Hybrid Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $95,000+ annually, based on experience and level Position Overview A growing, technology-forward CPA firm is seeking an experienced accounting professional to serve as a trusted extension of firm leadership. This is a senior-level opportunity for someone who can take ownership of complex client work, solve problems independently, and help the firm operate more efficiently as it continues to grow. The ideal candidate combines strong public accounting experience with sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a bias toward action. This person will be expected to understand the broader business behind the numbers, identify what needs to be done, and move work forward without waiting for step-by-step direction. Experience within Client Accounting Services (CAS), outsourced accounting, or advisory services is strongly preferred. However, the firm is open to considering exceptional accounting professionals who demonstrate the ability to learn quickly, solve unfamiliar problems, and use technology effectively. What You’ll Do Manage complex accounting and advisory work for a portfolio of business clients Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, providing timely guidance and practical solutions Review financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end or year-end work Analyze financial information, identify inconsistencies, and resolve accounting issues Help clients understand their financial results and make informed business decisions Lead or support Client Accounting Services engagements, including outsourced accounting, reporting, and process improvement Take ownership of projects from initial assessment through completion Make sound decisions and move work forward with limited supervision Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reporting, and client service Use technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to increase efficiency and accuracy Assist with the implementation and optimization of accounting systems Support and review the work of junior accounting staff as needed Partner closely with firm leadership to manage priorities and expand the firm’s capacity Stay current on accounting standards, technology, and emerging practices within the profession What We’re Looking For Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, CAS Manager, Controller, or comparable experience Public accounting experience strongly preferred Experience with Client Accounting Services, outsourced accounting, or advisory work is highly desirable Strong understanding of financial statements, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close Ability to review complex work, recognize potential issues, and determine the appropriate next steps Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to figure out unfamiliar situations Excellent professional judgment, discretion, and decision-making ability Highly efficient, organized, and able to process information quickly Action-oriented approach with the ability to operate independently Strong client communication and relationship-management skills Genuine interest in technology, AI, automation, and improving accounting processes Experience with NetSuite is a plus but not required CPA license or progress toward certification is preferred but not required for the right candidate What Will Make You Successful You may be a strong fit if you: Naturally look for solutions instead of waiting for instructions Can distinguish between issues that require escalation and those you can resolve independently Learn new systems and concepts quickly Enjoy creating order from incomplete or complicated information Understand both the technical accounting details and the larger business implications Are comfortable making decisions and taking responsibility for the outcome See technology as a way to improve accounting rather than simply another system to manage Want to play a meaningful role in the growth and evolution of a smaller firm Why Consider This Opportunity?
