Operations Manager / Project Manager – Construction & Surface Installations

Sophisticated Surfaces is growing and looking for a dependable Operations Manager / Project Manager to help lead daily operations, coordinate crews, manage job sites, and keep projects moving smoothly.

We specialize in high-end resin-bound stone, rubber surfacing, pool decks, patios, driveways, and outdoor surface upgrades across East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and surrounding areas. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can organize people, communicate with customers, solve problems, and occasionally jump in on site when needed.

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinate daily schedules, crews, materials, equipment, and job progress

• Communicate with customers before, during, and after projects

• Help manage installers and hold crews accountable to quality standards

• Assist with job setup, layout, measurements, punch lists, and closeout

• Track materials, tools, and equipment needed for each job

• Help identify problems early and keep projects on schedule

• Work with ownership on estimates, change orders, and job planning

• Occasionally assist on job sites when needed

• Maintain a clean, professional, safety-focused work environment

Ideal candidate:

• Has construction, project management, crew lead, or operations experience

• Is organized, reliable, and comfortable making decisions

• Can communicate professionally with customers and crew members

• Understands job site urgency and the importance of quality workmanship

• Is willing to learn resin-bound and rubber surfacing systems

• Has a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

• Can work outdoors and handle a fast-paced construction schedule

• Is comfortable using basic technology such as phones, apps, photos, texts, and scheduling software
