In-School Suspension Paraprofessional MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Educational Level: Associates degree; completed two (2) years of college coursework (sixty [60] semester hours) above the remedial level with a grade of “C” or better at a GaPSC- accepted accredited institution; or passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment Test 2. Certification/License Required: Must maintain eligibility for Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate which includes in-service related to position 3. Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities 4. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Written and oral communication REPORTS TO: Principal PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. 2. Participates in school functions, field trips and extracurricular activities as indicated. 3. Participates in on-going professional learning training. 4. Assists with hall duty and bus loading and unloading as directed. 5. Shows initiative and assumes responsibility for all aspects of job responsibilities. 6. Performs routine duties and tasks with little or no direct supervision. 7. Provides adequate supervision of students at all times. 8. Provides appropriate instructional assistance and support for students based on lessons developed and provided by the teacher. 9. Coordinates and communicates with classroom teachers in assisting students in the continuation of classroom assignments. 10. Interacts with students, individually and/or in groups, to assist them in accepting responsibility for their behavior and for changing that behavior. 11. Assists with discipline record keeping. 12. Maintains structure and discipline in the ISS room and directs the conduct of students in accordance with policies and procedure. 13. Demonstrates appropriate communication skills as applicable for the job. 14. Acts in a professional manner and maintains a professional attitude towards the public and colleagues and exhibits the fundamentals of good public/customer service 15. Complies with school, system, state, and federal regulations and policies, including the PSC Code of Ethics, as related to job requirements 16. Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 day position. Salary based on board approved salary schedule.
