Gold Mirror Restaurant is looking for a dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented Chef's Assistant to support our kitchen team in preparing high-quality food and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with daily food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, portioning, and prepping ingredients.
• Assist with the preparation and handling of fresh fish and seafood, including proper storage, cleaning, portioning, and food-safety practices.
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of different meats, including veal, beef/steaks, and pork, and be able to properly identify and handle each.
• Assist with preparing meats, seafood, vegetables, sauces, and other ingredients according to the chef's specifications.
• Help with cooking and plating as directed by the chef.
• Follow recipes, preparation procedures, and food-safety standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift.
• Properly store, label, and rotate food and ingredients.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing kitchen inventory.
• Monitor food quality and freshness.
• Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment as needed.
• Maintain clean and sanitary prep areas, equipment, storage areas, and kitchen floors.
• Work efficiently and calmly during busy service periods.
• Assist other members of the kitchen team whenever needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef or Kitchen Manager.

Qualifications & Skills

• Previous restaurant or professional kitchen experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Italian cuisine is a plus.
• Experience handling fresh fish and seafood is strongly preferred.
• Basic knowledge of different cuts and types of meat, including veal, beef/steaks, and pork.
• Understanding of proper food handling, storage, sanitation, and food-safety practices.
• Ability to follow recipes and verbal instructions accurately.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Food-handler certification preferred or willingness to obtain one.
