Registered Nurse (RN) - NICUAn exciting opportunity exists for a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) to join our team. The role involves delivering exceptional care to newborns requiring specialized medical attention in a Level II Special Care Nursery.Unit InformationUnit Type: NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)# of Beds: 12 licensed SCN neonatal bedsBirths: Approximately 325 deliveries per monthAverage Census: 10 in the Special Care NurseryPatient Ratios: Typically 3:1, may adjust to 2:1 based on acuityShift DetailsShift Length: 12 hoursSchedule: Nights, including three weekend shifts per schedule, with potential to float to a sister facilityWeekend Requirements: 3 weekend shifts per monthHoliday Requirements: One major and one minor holiday if it falls within the assignmentQualificationsExperience: Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience required; Level II NICU experience necessary, Level III experience preferredCertifications: BLS Certification and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) requiredAdditional Skills: Nurses must be proficient in starting IVs; a pass/fail Sim Lab for foley catheter insertion is required on Day 1 of orientationPatient CareThe unit cares for infants 32 weeks gestational age and above, including patients on CPAP and High Flow, feeder growers, and those with conditions such as respiratory distress, sepsis, and hyperbilirubinemia.Team and EnvironmentSupport Staff: A Patient Care Technician (PCT) assists with patient careMedical Staff: Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) and Pediatricians are in-house 24/7Equipment: The unit is equipped for high-flow oxygen therapy and CPAPMonitoring: There are no dedicated monitor techs; RNs collaborate with medical staff for interpretation of cardiac strips as needed.OrientationNew hires will undergo a comprehensive orientation lasting two shifts to ensure familiarity with unit protocols and patient care standards.Dress CodeNavy blue scrubs are required for staff.Additional NotesThis role requires a commitment to providing high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.
