Registered Nurse – Operating Room (Neurosurgery)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts, Monday–Friday (9:40–22:10) | Weekend and possible holiday call rotation included

Key Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care in a Tier 6 Neurosurgery Operating Room setting
• Assist with complex neurosurgical procedures including aneurysm clipping, craniotomy for tumor, cervical and lumbar fusion, laminectomy, subdural hematoma evacuation, VP shunts, and combined acoustic/sinus tumor cases
• Operate and assist with specialized neurosurgical equipment including Sonopet, bone scalpel, bipolar, and bipolar with irrigation
• Work with advanced surgical microscopes including Mitaka, Leica, Kinevo, and Pentero systems
• Function effectively within a Hybrid OR environment
• Float to other units as needed per facility requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin RN license or valid Compact RN license
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care Operating Room experience within the last 3 years, specifically in neurosurgery
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted)
• Must pass a telemetry/cardiac rhythm interpretation exam with a score of 80% or higher (including 100% identification of lethal rhythms) within allowable attempts

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with hybrid OR environments and advanced neurosurgical microscope systems
• Familiarity with a broad range of complex neurosurgical procedures and associated instrumentation
