HR Associate - Sacramento, CA

Compensation: $22-25 per hour DOE

Overview: Nexus HR is looking for an HR Associate in Sacramento, CA. The ideal candidate can multitask and adapt to a fast-paced setting.

About the Job

The HR Associate will play a critical role in supporting the Human Resources department by managing new hire onboarding processes and providing day-to-day HR support to all employees. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to ensuring a positive employee experience. This role requires a proactive approach to HR administration, a thorough understanding of HR policies, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Payroll Administration:

• Processing bi-weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, and off-cycle payrolls.
• Calculating and processing employee compensation, deductions, bonuses, and expenses.
• Reconciling payroll data to general ledger accounts.
• Managing employee time tracking and attendance systems.
• Maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
• Managing 401(k) and other benefit plan deductions and funding.
• Serve as a payroll subject matter expert and provide training and support to employees as needed. 
• Preparing and processing 940 and 941 tax forms

New Hire Onboarding:

• Employee Support and Services:

• Act as a key resource for employees by addressing inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and other HR-related matters.

• Support employee engagement initiatives and promote a positive work environment by being accessible and approachable to all employees.

• Assist with administering employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave of absence requests.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, and state and federal regulations, and maintain up-to-date employee records.

• HR Administration:

• Assist with the preparation of HR reports and data analysis for internal reviews and audits.

• Maintain accurate and organized HR files, including personnel records, training documentation, and compliance records.

• Provide support for HR-related projects, including employee engagement surveys, performance reviews, and training initiatives.

• Collaborate with the HR team to continuously improve processes related to onboarding, employee services, and HR operations.

• Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, including ADA, FMLA, and other relevant regulations.

• Partner with the HR Manager to ensure a safe and inclusive workplace for all

• employees, actively participating in safety initiatives and programs.

Qualifications :

• Strong knowledge of HR policies and best practices.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

• Proficiency in HR software and Google Suites.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations is a plus.
