SENIOR MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Gulf Correctional Institution in Gulf County. The purpose of this position is to perform and oversee complex auto repair and maintenance tasks while instructing and supervising inmates, ensuring vehicle upkeep, safety, and rehabilitation progress under the supervision of the Automotive Equipment Maintenance Superintendent.

Job duties include repairing and maintaining vehicles, teaching and supervising inmates in complex auto repair skills, planning and scheduling repair work, ordering parts, and making sure vehicles get regular maintenance on time. The position also involves keeping records of inmate progress for rehabilitation and tracking vehicle maintenance costs and usage according to department rules. Supervision of inmates during work, maintaining control and safety following all procedures is also required.

Requirements include a high school diploma or its equivalent, minimum of two (2) years of experience in automotive repair and maintenance, and a Commercial Driver License if required by the assigned location.
