Special Education Teacher - Itinerant Case Manager (Mild/Moderate & ESN) | Fairfield, CA

$50+/Hour Based on Experience | School-Based Opportunity

Are you an experienced Special Education Teacher who excels at case management, IEP compliance, and collaboration? We are seeking a dedicated Itinerant Special Education Case Manager to support students across multiple grade levels and programs in Fairfield, California .

This unique position is ideal for a Special Education professional who enjoys managing IEP processes and ensuring students receive the support they need, while not being responsible for day-to-day classroom instruction. The selected candidate will operate from an office located on a school campus and manage a caseload of approximately 55-65 students across all grade levels , including Mild/Moderate and Extensive Support Needs (ESN) programs .

Key Responsibilities

The Itinerant Case Manager's responsibilities are focused exclusively on special education case management duties , including:

• Preparing for and facilitating Annual, Triennial, Transition, and Amendment IEP meetings

• Conducting formal and informal assessments for IEP purposes

• Writing goal progress reports and maintaining special education documentation

• Updating and affirming student information within the special education data management system

• Conducting student observations as needed

• Scheduling IEP meetings and coordinating participant attendance

• Communicating accommodations and supports to teachers and site administrators

• Serving as the primary point of contact for parents regarding IEP implementation and academic concerns

• Collaborating with service providers and educational stakeholders

• Completing follow-up activities related to IEP meetings and service implementation

• Ensuring compliance with state and federal special education regulations

What This Position Does NOT Include

This role is strictly focused on case management and compliance responsibilities.

The Itinerant Case Manager is not responsible for:

• Curriculum development

• Lesson planning or preparation

• Classroom instruction

• MAP testing

• Direct goal instruction or mastery tracking

• Writing general education report cards

• Classroom supply management

• Managing classroom operations

• Addressing parent concerns unrelated to IEP implementation

Qualifications

• Active California Education Specialist Credential

• Experience managing IEPs and special education compliance

• Knowledge of IDEA, California Special Education regulations, and IEP procedures

• Experience with Mild/Moderate and/or Extensive Support Needs populations preferred

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, teachers, parents, and related service providers

• School-based special education experience preferred

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred

• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations

• Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred

• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
