Overview The Piedmont Triad Regional Council (PTRC) is seeking an Accountant, a current CPA candidate with up to two years of professional accounting experience, preferably in auditing or the public sector, to support the financial operations of the Regional Council. This role involves general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and assistance to department-level accounting. The accountant will work with federal and state regulations, reference materials, organizational policies, and governmental accounting principles. Emphasis will be on developing, reviewing, and modifying accounting procedures, systems, and policies, as well as performing routine to complex accounting tasks. Responsibilities Work directly with the general ledger, including account reconciliations and assisting departments. Use federal and state regulations and reference materials, along with organizational policies, procedures, budgets, and principles of governmental accounting. Develop, review, and modify accounting procedures, systems, and policies. Assist the Finance Director in preparing and analyzing fiscal reports and interpreting the Fiscal Control Act. Exercise independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in completing assignments. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited four-year institution with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Current CPA candidate with up to two years of professional accounting experience (preferred auditing or public sector). Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices of general accounting. Ability to analyze data and produce customized financial, statistical, and narrative reports. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interpret and apply rules, policies, and regulations. Strong analytical thinking; ability to resolve problems independently and gather/give information diplomatically. Experience with modern office practices, procedures, equipment, including Microsoft Office. Valid driver’s license. Must pass pre‑employment drug screening and background screening. Salary & Benefits Anticipated salary: $54,942.79 per year. Benefits include the Local Government Employees Retirement System (LGERS), NCLGERS, and participation in PSLFP.
