Admixture Tech II

Summary The Admixture Technician II is responsible for preparing hazardous and nonhazardous agents under the supervision of the dispensing practitioner. The technician must possess sterile product preparation techniques, a thorough understanding of biological safety cabinets, and knowledge of antineoplastic/cytotoxic agents, including precautions needed in handling these products. The role requires high productivity and performance while contributing to overall patient care. Responsibilities Review medication orders for accuracy and suitability. Perform mathematical calculations for drug measurements for ordered medications. Prepare sterile and nonsterile medications accurately and timely. Properly don and doff garb to ensure aseptic preparation of hazardous and nonhazardous drugs. Understand and use Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly to maintain safety. Maintain records and logs for clinical research trials, drug waste, safety cabinet cleaning, temperature monitoring, and controlled substances. Order, stock, and dispense medical supplies and drugs. Manage inventory, including ordering, dispensing, auditing, storage, and reconciliation. Complete all required education and training mandated by the organization and regulatory agencies. Dispose of hazardous drugs and waste materials in compliance with USP, OSHA, NIOSH, and state/federal regulations. Monitor and document the temperature of all ambient and refrigerated drugs. Report drug loss, communicate clinic charges, and initiate drug replacement/reimbursement. Collaborate with departments such as Patient Financial Navigators and Procurement to track and order patient drugs. Perform other duties and projects as assigned by Pharmacy Operations Supervisor and Manager. Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information. Travel as required for float positions; expected travel 75%–100% weekly. Education & Certifications High school diploma or equivalent (required). College degree (preferred). Professional pharmacy technician certification required; Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred. Experience Minimum of one year experience as a pharmacy or admixture technician, preferably in a clinical setting. IV sterile admixture experience preferred. Travel Must be willing to travel occasionally for educational and research meetings, as well as training sessions. Standard Workdays/Hours Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
