Job Description JOB TITLE: Teacher FLSA STATUS: Exempt BENEFITS STATUS: Full-Time, 10 months SALARY RANGE (Monthly): $4,100 - $5,595 (with Bachelor's degree; based on experience) REPORTS TO: Principal SUPERVISES: May coordinate and direct the activities of teacher assistants. Purpose: To plan, organize and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development. Duties and Responsibilities Management of Instructional Time: Provide ready materials and equipment at lesson start, begin quickly, keep students on task and maintain high time‑on‑task. Management of Student Behavior: Establish rules and procedures for routine matters, verbal participation, movement; monitor behavior during activities and transitions; address inappropriate behavior promptly while maintaining dignity. Instructional Presentation: Start with review, introduce objectives, speak fluently, use clear concepts and demonstrations, assign tasks with high success rate, ask appropriate questions, pace briskly, manage transitions, and summarize key points. Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: Set clear work standards and due dates, circulate to check progress, use oral, written, and other products to assess understanding, pose clear questions one at a time. Instructional Feedback: Provide feedback on in‑class work, prompt feedback on out‑of‑class work, confirm correct responses, provide sustaining feedback after incorrect or no responses (probe, repeat, clue, or allow more time). Facilitating Instruction: Plan instruction aligned with curricular goals, use diagnostic data to revise objectives, maintain accurate records, match resources to strategies, assessments, and student needs. Interacting Within the Educational Environment: Treat all students fairly, interact effectively with students, co‑workers, parents, and community. Performing Non‑Instructional Duties: Carry out non‑instructional duties as assigned, adhere to laws and policies, follow professional development plan and demonstrate growth. Additional Job Functions Perform other related work as required. Minimum Training and Experience Degree in education or a related area qualifying for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions Physical Requirements: Ability to use various equipment and tools, lift/carry/push/pull small objects, stand/walk, consistent with light work.
