Refrigeration Technician (Ammonia) - Night Shift 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Refrigeration Technician to support the safe operation and maintenance of our plant’s ammonia refrigeration and utility systems. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting system issues, and supporting PSM and safety compliance.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems
- Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues
- Monitor system performance and identify maintenance needs
- Support PSM, safety, and regulatory compliance
- Assist with plant utilities (boilers, HVAC, compressed air, water systems)
- Train and support maintenance team members as needed
- Participate in the Emergency Response Team
Qualifications
- 5+ years of industrial ammonia refrigeration experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with compressors, condensers, evaporators, and control systems
- Ability to read P&IDs and understand refrigeration cycles
- PSM experience preferred
Education
- HVACR, Electrical, or related technical training (Associate degree preferred)
- RETA certification (CARO/CIRO) or equivalent
- High School Diploma or GED Required
Compensation
- Up to $40/hr
