Job Description JOB TITLE: Survey Field TechnicianCLASSIFICATION: Hourly (Non-Exempt)REPORTS TO: Telecom Market LeaderSUMMARY:The Survey Field Technician supports survey projects by performing on-site data collection, operatingsurveying equipment, and assisting with boundary and topographic surveys, and construction stakings.This role ensures accurate field measurements, proper documentation, and compliance with projectrequirements. Responsibilities include setting up and maintaining equipment, collaborating with thesurvey team, and preparing field notes for analysis.ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Perform various types of surveys, including boundary, topographic, and construction staking, ensuring accurate data collection to meet project specifications and requirements. • Prepare and use survey equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, levels, and data collectors. Ensure all equipment is calibrated correctly for precise measurements and troubleshoot issues when necessary. • Accurately gather measurements and other data points in the field. Double-check all data to ensure completeness and consistency before submission to the office for processing. • Maintain comprehensive notes, sketches, and photos that document site conditions, measurements, and any anomalies encountered during the survey. • Work closely with survey team, engineers, and project managers to interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications, ensuring alignment with client and project needs. • Use field data to calculate positions and accurately mark key data points to be used for construction on the ground, supporting project development. • Ensure all instruments are cleaned, properly stored, and functional. Report repairs or replacements as needed to the Survey Services Coordinator. • Follow all site-specific safety protocols and procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), being aware of environmental hazards, and ensuring the safety of team members and equipment. • Relay information about project progress, potential issues, and site conditions to team members, clients, or contractors. Respond promptly to questions or problems that arise in the field. • Support survey and engineering teams with tasks such as transferring field data to office systems, conducting preliminary drafting, or assisting with logistics for future surveys.QUALIFICATIONS • Education: A two-year Engineering Technician Associates Degree or a four-year Bachelor of Science degree with land surveying curriculum, or similar. • Experience: 2-4 years of experience as a survey technician, preferably in telecommunications, construction, or civil engineering industry. This role is responsible for collecting accurate field data, operating modern surveying technology, and assisting with construction layout and mapping activities.
