Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS certification from AHA required ACLS certification from AHA required Must-Have: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred Description: Type of patients on the unit include myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, peripheral vascular disease, and some medical-surgical overflow. The department manages various cardiac drips but does not administer nitrates. The shift is from 7 AM to 7 PM. The nurse is expected to practice independently in similar clinical settings. Responsibilities include providing routine and complex care while managing long-range goals and plans. The nurse continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage clinical contingencies. Appropriate assignments and delegation to other care providers are made to help manage the clinical situation. Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, nursing care is provided using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. The nurse addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families according to their level of practice. Medications and treatments are administered using appropriate protocols, while monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness. Patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided are documented thoroughly. The nurse assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers, identifying issues and resources. All newly hired RNs must complete a designated orientation program and competency validation requirements. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory.
