We are looking for a talented Estimator who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for developing cost estimates and resource requirements for electrical transmission and distribution construction projects throughout the region.

What You'll Do

• Work as part of an integrated Operations and Estimating team in acquiring projects
• Assist project team in scoping projects for engineering, construction, and contractual requirements
• Review plans, specifications, drawings to determine the cost of the project
• Perform material takeoffs and develop an estimate of cost to perform the work according to the specifications
• Prepare budgetary project estimates based on limited information and general scopes of work, often lacking specific precedence
• Develop detailed lump sum project estimates based on company standards and site-specific facility drawings
• Analyze time, equipment, tooling, material and manpower requirements for each project
• Interface with customers, vendors and subcontractors
• Select pool of potential subcontractors and material/equipment vendors to solicit their proposals
• Gather information regarding subcontractor and vendor suitability and determine the best pricing
• Exercise significant independent discretion in developing project estimates and applying "mark-up" and "labor factors"
• Occasionally visiting customer field locations as required to ascertain project conditions
• Attend pre- and post-bid meetings, virtually or in person, as required and be able to effectively present information to clients
• Properly turn over bid documents to Operations
• Assist with the development of standardized historical cost databases and application tools to aid future estimates

• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency in the use of Excel
• Knowledge of estimating software programs
• BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Mgt/Admin, Accounting/Finance, or equivalent experience (Preferred)
• 3-5 years of experience in the utility construction industry (Preferred)
